White willow has been called “herbal aspirin” or “nature’s aspirin” due to its salicin content. This is the natural chemical that the primary ingredient in commercial aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, is synthesized to mimic. It releases general pain, headaches, and inflammation, and reduces fever.
